The English Cottage design by Jesse Sahlani is an ode to the timeless architecture of the English countryside. This rendition of this classic style is in a two storey format where the second floor hides itself within a well proportioned steep and dramatic mansard roofline clad in cedar shake shingles. The result is a seemingly low and wide design that does not show its grandeur upfront, clad with a full stone facade, consisting of a blend of two different types of natural stone that were chipped, fitted, and placed on-site at random by expert masons creating a rustic finished product. This stone is contrasted with the smooth contemporary limestone vestibule, curved ends of the mansard roof, copper accents, and arched windows.
The interior of this fully automated home offers a slightly more contemporary influence. The kitchen, a transitional blend of cool greys and blues creates a calming and inviting effect for both guests and the owners. The open floor plan into the living room, which features a oversized herringbone fireplace clad with bookmatched marble, LED lit cove ceiling details, wooden wall paneling and warm dark hardwood that leads to the custom waterfall stairs where modern glass railings are clad with wood accents to match the hardwood.
Also included in this home design and construction is a classic english study with wood clad walls and iron detailing on the fireplace, a pub inspired bar in the basement, his and her walk-in closets, luxury his and his ensuite bathrooms featuring bookmatched slabs, and the primary suite which has automated retractable black out blinds and a concealed drop down tv housed in the ceiling.
