The Contemporary French Country home project by Jesse Sahlani sought to convert an existing 1980’s subdivision home into a luxurious, design forward entertaining oasis for a growing family. Modifications include a revision to the roof line of the home, new large format windows that utilize specifically proportioned mullions to create a discerning aesthetic on the exterior while quaintly characterizing the interior design plan by interior design company.
The study greets occupants with green glass pocket doors that accent the dark fluted wood cabinetry and warm LED lighting that characterizes this space, while a large picture window and reading chair offers a cozy space to work or read. In the living room, kitchen, and dining areas, windows line the entire rear wall and large accordion doors provide a connection to the landscaped exterior entertaining spaces
On the interior, a warm and neutral palette creates an inviting and calming interior design plan. The full height grand foyer showcases a feature staircase surrounded by floor to ceiling wall paneling and floor to ceiling window features draw sunlight into the second floor mezzanine and bedrooms
The exterior painted brick finish creates a starkly contrasting exterior to that of the surrounding homes and to the black window frames, doors, roofing materials, and aluminum accent colours. The roofline, utilizing a traditional mansard style roof is one of two key components that offer a nod to the original characteristics of this timeless house design alongside the chimney style garage wall masonry details.
In the backyard, a pool, limestone patio stones with turf inserts, and multiple seating areas make this backyard perfect for entertaining up to 30 guests. In addition to this a fire pit area, an outdoor kitchen, a pergola, exterior retaining walls housing tall and plush trees that add privacy to the space, all accented by ambient lighting.
