IJesse had the opportunity to beautifully restore a historic cottage in Unionville, ON. He was required to preserve the original charm of this structure while entirely reimagining the interior with flair. Even with his hands tied, he brought this body of work to life in a way that captures both the quaint historic charm of the neighbourhood and the interior tastes of our client (she’s stylish!).
Most will look at this and not think much of the challenge a project like this poses, but it required dancing around existing window positions in order to maximize natural light, making sure the rooms are positioned around these openings while feeling sprawling, and ensuring that the structure (which couldn’t be added to substantially) is able to support the functional needs within a set envelope. For these reasons, I would consider this some of his best floor planning and garden work, making the most of the plot and structure at hand.
The Hollywood Regency design style Jesse applied throughout the interior of the home is an eclectic addition to his catalogue of private residences, offering a range of bold finishes and unique materials. Creating an immersive environment was a priority for Jesse, as the design style itself is meant to be eclectic, bold, and, above all else, immersively stylish. To see this through, every lighting fixture and finish was selected to this standard. This intent was expressed through the colour-drenched rooms, bold materials, and uniquely layered textures throughout. Each and every furniture piece was similarly designed to this standard internally and produced using a range of exotic fabrics, materials, and colours.

The 6AM Murano glass dining room fixture was a specific point of interest for Jesse, as it spans across the entire ceiling within the space, speaking to the immersive design intent further. To segregate the dining room, Jesse designed a custom glass partition wall featuring a unique texture that complements the fixture within the space and reflects the pink suede wallpaper hue into the main living room. He also designed a custom travertine dining room table with a wavy base that offers soft curves within the space, creating a feeling of openness in an otherwise inaccessible area. The standard of design experienced in this space when entertaining during the evening hours is memorable as a result.
The principal bedroom was designed with a similar intention, with every single piece of furniture designed, curated, and installed by our team being a shade of our clients favourite colour; pink. This list includes the custom bed, side tables, credenza, and matching dog steps with each piece features integrated lighting that entirely transforms the interior during the evening hours.
Melissa chose custom mural wallpaper for the rear wall depicting a flock of soaring Cranes, an ecelectic addition to the space that speaks to the desired level of visual interest. It was hand painted and gilded by Degourney.

In the basement, a similar design language was followed, including a colour-drenched pink limewash finish, a pink quartzite island, a bronze-plated bar feature wall, and a layered and eclectic combination of fabrics that add both texture and visual interest to the space.
The chaise lounger is worth drawing your attention to, as it features a unique pattern depicting jumping panthers on a green velvet background. Bronze integrated side tables offer a sculptural presence within the space while making it the perfect movie night staple.
