Jesse’s Contemporary Georgian, designed for a quaint node of the beaches, offers a great example of the highly detailed design he has become know for. Centrered around the Georgian design style, the outwardly simplistic exterior with symmetrical features and natural stone create a time sense of regal elegance.

However, despite the perceived simplicity of the exterior, upon closer review you will find that Jesse’s approach was just as detailed as ever. Everything from the window proportions and mullion designs, to the unique masonry and chimney details he created contribute to the capturing of a timeless character within his rendition of this historic design style.

What won’t be apparent to most is that Jesse had the challenge of creating a three storey home that offers the sense of balanced proportionality he imagined. As he worked through the sketching process, the Georgian design style was the perfect fit. The use of symmetry allows him to scale the sizes of each exterior detail, influencing the perceived width of the proportions. It also allowed the masonry design to be the star of the show. The limestone facade is one of our favourite features of the home, offering a sense of formality and a yellow undertone that feels undeniably luxurious.

We think the shot on the left of the front door and oversized front window captures how these proportions feel to a visitor approaching the structure for the first time.

In his usual fashion, Jesse’s masonry designs are incredibly detailed with the intention of capturing a specific feeling. The design plan includes a range of unique profiles he created for the gable wall caps, mid-wall banding details, and panel inlays. The image on your right is a great example of how the side gable features create an intrinsic sense of historic value. These details play off of the vertical symmetry created by the windows, and many were designed to increase the perceived width of the home. The mixture of materials, profiles, and proportionality come together in one art form as the inspiringly timeless Contemporary Georgian.
