A TRUE REFLECTION OF JESSE’S DESIGN LANGUAGE

Imge

This body of work is a true reflection of what mid-century modern design means to Jesse. The design of the front façade captures the idea of complex simplicity, where proportions and natural light are designed to be the main attraction, and materials are only there to offer texture meant to frame or highlight architectural features and proportions—or the illusion of one in its absence. An example of this approach can be found in the height of the stone “pillars” that were intentionally designed to mask the height of the structure, making it feel more like a bungalow than a two-storey home. It takes a myriad of details like this to create the body of work you see before you.

MATERIALS & GARDENS THAT HIGHLIGHT PROPORTIONS

CONTEMPORARY

Jesse’s is a nuanced approach that considers the impact of every single element and its role in capturing the desired character he sought. This level of specificity towards profiles and details is an extension of his love for modern design, making it a language that comes easily to him. The body of work becomes worth far more than the sum of its parts as a result, requiring a viewer to appreciate it as a whole. A great example of this approach can be found in the gardens that offer a simple and organized combination of grasses, feature trees, and ambient lighting that creates a warm and inviting environment, setting the stage for the main attraction.
