Jesse Sahlani’s latest Mediterranean beach house inspired custom home is centered around the creation of a cohesive rendition of this classic design style found in beachfront
settings throughout Greece and Spain. The exterior is characterized by rustic stone, a lime wash concrete finish, and unique privacy walls to create a sense of seclusion that wraps
you in luxury.
The rear facade design offers a far less muted version of this style to harness natural light by design. The rear windows not only draw natural light to the entertainment spaces, they also serve the purpose of drawing light through the window walls in front of the exterior gardens to illuminate the front office and dining room during times of low-light. These windows also contribute to the connection to the exterior.
Lastly, when approaching the landscape design behind the exterior entertainment space, Jesse purposely designed it to serve as an extension of the interior entertaining space. An exterior dining room, fire pit, and sun tanning area around the below ground pool all support family fun in the sun, but in a highly desirable format that meets the standard of your favorite resort. A limestone finish is featured throughout the pool surround, adding to the relaxing and serene surroundings offered by the exterior concrete finish of the structure, as well as the extensive exterior lighting plan that highlights the surrounding shrubbery during the evening hours.
The interior design of this stunning custom home speak to Jesse’s desire to achieve design consistency throughout. Jesse drew upon the use of a similar lime wash finish used on the exterior, throughout all of the interior walls of the home, as well as the use of the same rustic stone utilized throughout the exterior. The intention behind this was to create the illusion that these exterior walls were composed of the same material throughout, allowing the rustic exterior design to characterize the interior living space.
A great example of this is the dining room that features two walls clad with this rustic stone. The dining room, as well the office, each also feature as window wall in front of an exterior garden purposely designed and placed by Jesse to characterize both spaces. Rustic wood beams featured throughout the interior of this home also add to the rustic design intent, while the curved continuous drywall railing around the staircase offers a more polished character to the space. The two storey atrium features a full height drywall fireplace feature wall that is colourized with the same lime wash finish as the exterior.
